6 years ago, when Briarfields first began, we had to make the important decision wheter ot not to adopt a total no kill policy. This meant that no dog coming to the sanctuary would ever be put down because a suitable home could not be found. Many people advised that this would be impossible as there are always so many dogs out there and only so few spaces at the sanctuary. As time went by, we expand as much as possible and all this time later we can truly say that we have maintained this no kill policy. Apart from 2 terribly vicious dogs, we have never put a single dog down, merely because it was taking up space.

Naturally, this means that we do have about 15 dogs here which for one reason or another can never be rehomed. They will live out their lives here and be cared for just as all the others are. These are the dogs we know as our forever friends. We will feature as many of these are possible on the website. If you would be willing to sponsor one, any donation however small will be gratefully received and will ensure that these dogs can live out the remainder of their lives here in comfort. We will send a 6 monthly update on your chosen dog and beautiful photograph for you to frame, either when you make a donation or if you wish on a particular date (birthday, Christmas etc.) Many thanks
